The award is named after John Santos, a longtime board member of the Retirement Research Fund who recognized that psychology, like other health professions, was having difficulty getting its students interested in work with older adults. He used his discretionary funds to fund conferences on clinical psychological issues in older adults. He then broadened the use of his funds to recognize the work of psychologists and students in psychology who work with older adults. Applicants for this award must be nominated and endorsed by a Division 20 member.
