Scholarships for Theatre Majors

From William Shakespeare to Mel Brooks, theatre majors learn about a vast array of directors, producers, acting methods and writing techniques. All of that variety doesn’t come cheap, however, and Theatre Majors can struggle to pay for their education. If you’re a Theatre Major trying to figure out how to cover the cost of your degree, you might want to look into scholarships. Some of the available scholarships are provided by organizations and programs such as the Princess Grace Foundation, the Screen Actors Guild, the Educational Theatre Association and the Rose Brand Scholarship Program. Others are offered by individual colleges and universities such as Illinois State University, Elmhurst College, Alma College, Drew University and Whitman College. In general, applying students will need to provide samples of their work, exhibit financial need, write an essay or meet a minimum grade point average.
