Scholarships for Chinese Students

With a population of more than 1 billion, there are a lot of people in China, and there are countless other Chinese people in other parts of the world. If you’re one of those people, you may qualify for one or more college scholarships. Most scholarships for Chinese students are offered by various organizations and foundations such as the Asian Pacific Fund, the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, the Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund. Others are offered by individual schools such as Boston College and Wesleyan University. Requirements vary from scholarship to scholarship, but students will generally need to provide documentation of their Chinese ancestry, demonstrate a certain level of financial need, meet a minimum grade point average or show community involvement. The scholarship is founded in honor of Liang-Lin Hsiao who was a professor of economics at Indiana State University. It is awarded to a graduate student attending US-based college or university and pursuing a graduate degree in economics. Applicant must be of Asian heritage (at least 50%); however, students of Chinese descent are given preference. Students pursuing a career in academia (teaching or research) are also given a higher preference.
