The Dissertation Research Grant in Developmental Psychology was established to support dissertation research with advance content knowledge, methodology and/or theory in developmental psychology. The dissertation research must be approved by the dissertation/orals committee. Beneficiaries for this award are outstanding graduate students who are members of the American Psychological Association and Div. 7. This fellowship was started to sponsor one fellow with a doctorate in psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program or related field. Fellows will spend one year working as special assistants in executive branch science mission agencies and in research funding and coordinating offices. Duties of fellows may include soliciting research applications and running peer review panels, staffing intergovernmental scientific task forces and committees, producing scientific media materials, responding to congressional inquiries, working on agency budgets and programming, and preparing briefs and speeches. Applicants must be excellent in scientific psychology and understand the application of psychological knowledge to national research and policy issues.
